Histopathology section offers diagnostic interpretation of neoplastic and non-neoplastic tissue biopsies (small/ oncology/gastrointestinal/liver/skin) from patients with disorders to assist the clinician in instituting appropriate treatment.

How To Send Samples

  • Surgical samples should be sent in 10% formalin
  • Ensure sample is labelled correctly, placed in sufficient volumes of formalin (The sample should dip completely in formalin) and is accompanied by complete clinical details
  • The sample container should preferably be sealed with Parafilm tape, followed by cello tape. The container shall than be placed in ziplock plastic cover.
  • Keep the zip lock in a card board and place clinical history sheet with that.
  • The sample packed as above can remain preserved for a month.

Blocks for Second Opinion

Specimen Type Paraffin blocks/slides submitted for review: Request form should contain block/slide identification number and number of blocks/slides submitted in addition to complete clinical details and diagnoses considered.


Release of laboratory reports

Telephonic reports

Reports maybe provided telephonically only to the treating physician to expedite treatment. Especially for critical cases. A final written report will be sent subsequently Critical cases include-Unexpected malignancies, angioinvasive fungus, opportunistic infections. Reports will be sent through e-mail to the referring clinician if email id is provided.


Return of paraffin blocks

Return of paraffin blocks for referral to oncology centres/ to obtain second opinion can be provided. A request for same has to be sent through mail.
